RIVER JORDAN COUNSELLING

SERVICE AND CONSULTANCY

Home

Hi, I am Nigel Jordan. My training as an integrative councellor has expanded across 15 years and I have a Professional Accredited Membership with NCS (National Counselling Society.) Through my therapeutic approach, I often work with people struggling with poor mental health due to anxiety, depression, and racial trauma. My main area of work is supporting adult men from disadvantaged and underrepresented communities. I empower my clients and provide them with a safe space to let them project any arising issues they may have whilst also letting them learn how to support themselves as individuals. The counselling approaches I utilise in my practice are person-centered, solution-focused, and via Behaviour Activation which incorporates using a thought diary and signposting to well-being recovery colleges.

What type of services do I offer?

The sessions I provide are Face-to-Face, Telephone Teams, Zoom or WhatsApp, I also offer telephone counselling via six person-centred counselling sessions weekly of up to 50 minutes. The first counselling session will be an initial assessment and will involve contracting as part of the counselling process in which I will request a patient’s health questionnaire to monitor and assist your recovery. Potential clients are encouraged to email or leave voice messages on my counsellor’s work mobile when self-referring. GPs, Medical Surgeries, Mental Health, Housing, Solicitors, and Community agencies can make referrals by submitting a referral to my work email.

How much is each session and what is the cancellation period?

The standard fee is £40 per session and a cancellation fee is incurred if 24 hours notice is not given.

One to One

This service is for adult males & Females. I have the capacity to work with self-referrals, however, there is a preference for referrals to be from professional external sources accompanied by referral information.

Primarily I work across a broad spectrum of issues and diverse communities as an inclusive service.

I also provide a specialist counselling service that involves culturally sensitive counselling to Black, Asian, Minority and Ethnic Individuals who experience anxiety, depression, emotional wellbeing issues, and racial trauma.

I also work with Refugees and Asylum Seekers who present with complex trauma for example PTSD [Post Trauma Stress Disorder]. And loss and separation.

If I am unable to work with someone, I will always endeavour to signpost the individual to an appropriate service.

A policy is face to face services is provided for Male Adults as well as remote digital services eg Video an Telephone counselling and for Females only Video and Telephone counselling. Please note there is no couple therapy provided.

Telephone Counselling

I provide telephone counselling for individuals who do not have access, or the ability to use portal digital devices.

Digital Online

If clients/patients prefer to contact me digitally they can send a zoom link to the therapist’s work mobile or his work email correspondence address.  WhatsApp and zoom link have rapidly increased as a method of having effective therapy that enables clients to access therapists nationwide from their own homes.

Clients who are being counselled please note you will be given 6 Integrative Counselling sessions at a 50-minute duration. Client DNA\’s [Did not attend] and Patient Cancellation will contribute as part of the 6 counselling sessions provided. It is important you try and attend as consecutive DNA and Patient cancellations indicate disengagement and the counsellor resource has to be saved for the clients that is why if there is less than 24 hours notice given a cancellation fee will be charged £40. Extenuated circumstances will be taken into consideration and a review will be done together if we decide if additional sessions will be needed.
